Our healthcare faculty

Our healthcare faculty is dedicated to ensuring our students develop the most up-to-date, industry recognised skills to make an impact in the workforce.

Aotearoa is facing a chronic shortage of health professionals, with 50% of the nursing workforce on track to retire by 2035.

Nurses are critical to the future of our healthcare system, and a diverse workforce is key to an effective health system that lifts health outcomes for all people of New Zealand.

A crucial focus for our faculty is to recognise and uphold the values of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all aspects of our approach to healthcare education. With only 7% of the nursing workforce being of Māori descent, we’re proud to educate New Zealanders from a range of backgrounds to begin diversifying the workforce and contribute to a fairer and more equitable health system.

To deliver on our vision to provide a seamless journey for all students from class to clinic to career to community, our nursing faculty is committed to building on our strong connections with key stakeholders across the nursing and healthcare workforce.
